I had the great privilege of photographing The Isabella Santos Foundation’s 5K for Kids Cancer again this year. In 2012 I got my feet wet at the race, then really got to dive into the event in 2013! Now each year I feel like I get to come home and see all the amazing familiar faces I’ve come to profoundly respect for their drive and enthusiasm.
This year they are celebrating 10 years – TEN!! SO incredible and they have achieved some insane milestones along the way. The organization was created in honor of Isabella Santos who lost her 5 year battle with Neuroblastoma in June 2012. She was seven years old. “The goal of the foundation is to raise money and awareness for Neuroblastoma research, provide financial assistance to families with children who are suffering from cancer as well as provide financial support for organizations that support children with cancer.” You can learn more about them by following their facebook page HERE.
If you have the chance to attend a 5K for Kids Cancer you will be surrounded by pure joy. Face painting, bouncers, hula hoops, a picture booth and SO much more! This year the bouncers were bigger and better than ever and they had a TON of fabulous food vendors there dishing out yummy goodies after the race. It is truly a fantastic time for all ages, not to mention it is done for an incredible cause. Cancer sucks, but childhood cancer leaves an even bigger sting on my heart personally. No parent should ever have to lose a child. <3
Also, if you haven’t seen their new apparel brand Cancer Messed With… you need to go check it out NOW!
“Cancer Messed With is an apparel brand that allows you to show support for your love one, a friend, a teammate… anyone who is fighting cancer. Not only are you giving them the encouragement they need to fight this disease, but your purchase is also helping find a cure for pediatric cancer.
Cancer Messed With was founded by friends at The Isabella Santos Foundation. Through Isabella’s fight and her parent’s persistent battle, Cancer Messed With became a slogan that people in the community resonated with. This message became a vision intended to help someone show support for any person and any cancer.”
Please enjoy some favorite photos of this fabulous event – a big hug to Isabella’s family, and everyone who attended and donated. Cheers!
