This year has been a wild ride. A whirlwind really. Lots of wonderful things happened, lots of stressful things too. But at the end of the day we are all here, relatively healthy and extremely lucky to be able to breathe in every day. Life with 3 kids is crazy, messy, chaotic and yet still endearing. Those in between moments in the day when we get to see the 3 of them interact, help each other, laugh with each other and just BE with each other – those moments soften the blow of all the want-to-rip-my-hair-out moments. Ha.
Besides Alice’s first year milestones, I haven’t done much photographing of my own family this year. Only on special occasions (beach week, thanksgiving) do I bring my big camera along. But I want to make a goal each year of getting at least one or two good family photos. It is no small task…the stars have to align perfectly (and at least 3 or 4 head swaps later) for us to accomplish this. There has been so much rain in the last few months that I was starting to think we would run out of chances! I did a few photos of the kids and one family photo in the studio a few weeks before Thanksgiving thinking I could use those if we couldn’t get outside. I LOVE the studio shots. Almost more than the outdoor images! I’m glad to have both background and used them all on our card this year.
Last weekend Alice turned 10 months old. Unreal! I was hoping to get a few holiday themed photos too. The boys pjs came last minute this year but I have been saving the pretty white vintage nightgown Alice will be wearing (or not wearing…) Christmas morning. <3 Charlie was up in the studio “helping” me and so I got him into his pjs. The shot of him and Alice is one of my favorite images in a while. It’s so them. Their expressions and connection is just right. They are my sweet blue eyed babies 🙂 Will came up with a ridiculous light up Santa hat we’ve had (it moves AND plays music…) and all the sudden everyone stopped moving. Bless the Santa hat for its magical powers!
I am still scheming for a photo of the kids in their pjs by the tree but that might have to wait for Christmas Eve. Either way, I love these images and my family. Excited to share them, Happy Holidays and enjoy! <3
