Time is flying by this pregnancy! Autumn is in full force and the leaves are changing and falling. I am just around the corner from my third trimester…what?! I have been forcing myself to take extra time to rest, listen to my body (nap when the boys nap! if they nap…ha) and use the weekends for time with my family. As a photographer that truly LOVES what I do it is easy to fall into a cycle of working all.the.time. Like, 7 days a week either shooting or processing…saying no is very hard for me! But my family comes first <3 Plus I knew that if I didn’t set boundaries I would never have any maternity photos of my own baby! Our LAST baby. So, now on the weekends I limit my work time and LOVE the time I get to be with my boys. It has given me a much better work/life balance and also given me time to do things with them and for myself (like taking my own maternity photos ;))!
After the last maternity shoot I did with the boys I had this amazing emotional connection to the photos – the wow factor in full effect and I just could not stop looking at them. So in LOVE! It was the first time that I felt exactly like I think my clients feel when they see their photos <3 When it comes to babies and bellies, time doesn’t wait. I hear so often from others that they wish they had done maternity or newborn photos, or capturing any of those important milestones. Most people regret things they *don’t* do versus things they do so I’m trying to prevent that with Baby Wade #3! I’m planning to do my own maternity and newborn photos for him/her but am VERY excited to have one of my talented photographer friends do the birth photos for me. 🙂
I decided that I’m going to do “seasons” for the baby’s room – my maternity photos in the lake for summer, these photos from last night for autumn, another shoot for winter in Jan/Feb (I reeeeally hope we get some SNOW!!), and then one when he/she arrives for spring.
Last night we also did a few family photos that I’ll use for our holiday cards but I also wanted to take advantage of the gorgeous scenery and fallen leaves for some fun photos with the boys and baby belly. The boys weren’t as excited to throw leaves as they were to get in the lake with me 😉 BUT it was enough to bribe them into doing the shoot. For the maternity photos I used a full swing lavender gown accented by a very special belt that was given to me by my husband Brian’s grandmother, Gram. The dress is SO much fun and just made for swishing and twirling! When I put it on my youngest son Charlie came up to me and said, “Mommy, you look like Cinderella!”! Yep, I kinda did feel like a princess after that 🙂
I have to give photo credit to my sweet husband again for being my trigger man on the maternity photos! He is a saint to humor me and my crazy ideas <3 Here are some of my favorites from last night. Enjoy!
