A Day at the Beach

July’s photo challenge for Rock the Shot is a Day at the Beach – perfect! We took our 2nd annual family beach trip last month and I was able to get some fun photos, but this was my favorite shot all week.

This is my mom (YaYa) and my son (Will). First of all, my mom RARELY goes down the the beach. She’s totally content to sit on the porch reading with a nice view and some salt air. So when I saw that she was headed that direction I grabbed my camera and followed her to document this momentous event 🙂

William Thornton Wade is named after my father who died suddenly in 2008. My son was also born 3 days after my late father’s birthday in August. Although I was adopted by my parents, Will has an uncanny resemblance to my father as a child. He and YaYa have always shared a special bond that is captured perfectly in this image. This photo is purely the result of me saying, “Will, can you go give YaYa a kiss?” ❤
